Thanks for taking the time to check out my very first blog! This has been in the works for awhile now and I am glad to finally get things going. Several friends have encouraged me to take the plunge and share my stories, so here we go….
In 2012 while attending my niece’s wedding in Colorado my sister Diane introduced me to my husband Bob. After several months of a long distance relationship via email, texting, phone calls and Bobby’s visits to St. Louis or mine to Denver, we decided to get married and start our new life together in Colorado.
At the time I was working on staff at Harvester Christian Church in St. Charles, MO. For 13 plus years one of my primary responsibilities was to oversee and lead the women’s ministries of the large suburban congregation. I loved this job. It provided me with lots of opportunities to express my joy of cultivating relationships and developing places for women to use their gifts and abilities to bless and help others. Even though the volunteers and other staff members were thrilled for my new marriage they often teased me about leaving the “city life” to became a “country girl!” In fact, at the last all staff prayer gathering the staff sang me a farewell rendition of the theme song from the TV show Green Acres. Hence, my name for my blog site, “DK…Loving Green Acres!”
Although I greatly miss my friends and co-workers I do love my new life and adventures as the “country girl.” There have been MANY times I have sung the Green Acres theme song in my head as I fumbled my way through chores and situations here on our farm. So, I hope you will join me on this new journey of blogging as I share the fun, challenging, growing side of everyday life here in Berthoud, Colorado!
Blessings! – Debbie
